8-23-11 moe.down School Supply Drive
A School Supply Drive has been organized again this year to benefit the Harry M. Fisher Elementary School in moe.hawk, NY. This year there will be a drop off location at check-in on Friday. Please look for the pop-up tent with the "School Supply Drive" sign. If you are not able to drop off yoru school supplies on Friday, there will be a bin at the "Kids Tent" both Saturday and Sunday.
Colleen M. Vetere, Principal at Harry M. Fisher Elementary is delighted to work with us in support of the children & the teachers. Ms. Vetere stated, "More than ever our families are struggling to provide their children with the tools necessary to be successful in school due to the severe economic crisis and job loss in our area. The bookbags, crayons, colored pencils, pens, pencils, erasers, folders, calculators, notebooks, and other school supplies donated last year allowed our students to enter school the first day and hit the ground running, ready to learn. Throughout the year we have so many families that do not have the ability to replenish supplies so your donations also allowed us to provide our teachers with a cache of these items to distribute to needy students throughout the year. Additionally, the donations of dry-erase markers, stickers, index cards, thumb drives, and other instructional items allowed our teachers to make up some ground to offset the deep cuts to our State Aid and budget."
"I am personally grateful and wish that I could share with you the huge smiles, warm hugs, and delighted hearts when I or their teacher is able to give a child a new book bag or backpack to replace their torn, broken one or even when they receive something as small as a pencil for a job well done."
We thank you again for your support in these efforts that will make a huge impact in the community!

MOE.DOWN CHARITIES - A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY
Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time and talents, and to the generous fans who contributed and participated in the various causes this year. It warms our heart to share the stats that will no doubt make a difference in the lives of many, near and far from Mohawk, NY.
Jeff Holl did a fantastic job of orchestrating the 11th annual moe.down charity golf outing. 67 golfers from across the US and Canada raised $3100 for the Stevens Swan Humane Society. Congratulations to Adam and Geno, the 2010 moe.down golf champions!
Big thanks to Debbie Amico and the stylists of the moe.down hair donation event: Kerri Tanner, Kelly Rae Myers and Rita Jutras. 18 people participated, 162 total inches were cut and in addition, $70 in donations was made to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths program. Tom "Murphy" Wollnik of Philadelphia, PA donated 18 inches of hair, earning him first place for the longest hair donation – and a free ticket to moe.down XII next year! Second place at 17 inches donated was Shawn "Stash" Littlefield of Portland, ME and in third place at 14 inches donated was Paul Guidione, also of Portland, ME. Great job, guys!
John Naegle and Evan Rosman (inthemoement) deserve a round of applause for heading up another successful moe.down School Supply Drive. This year’s drive benefited the students and teachers of Harry M. Fisher Elementary School in Mohawk, NY. Three vanloads of supplies were collected over the weekend. Evan and John would also like to thank the Elmont Public Library in Elmont NY for their donation of two boxes of children's videos and $30 in cash contributions from their employees. Most of all, they would like to thank School Principal Colleen Vetere of Harry M Fisher Elementary School and her staff for their warm hospitality during a tour of the school.
Festival goers may have noticed colorful cloth prayer flags hanging near the castle ruins and backstage. Conceived by moe.’s art designer Rebecca Childs-Derhak, the flags served a dual purpose; to add a festive vibe and to help those in need. Becca recruited friends and family within the moe. organization to decorate them and collected optional donations of a dollar per square to aid the Pakastan Relief effort. We hope to expand the prayer flag project next year to involve fans and artists alike in lending a hand at creating many more flags to decorate the site and to provide aid for a rising need.
A BIG MOE.DOWN THANK YOU
Another moe.down has gone down in the record books...we'd like to take a moment to give thanks and props to those who help make it all happen:
Chuck Chao and his crew at Eastern Artists, who did a phenomenal job of getting the new site ready for us to rock it.
Herkimer County and the residents of Mohawk and Robinson Road - thanks for welcoming and hosting us.
Our road and home crews, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the weekend run as smooth as possible, and big thanks to our manager Jon Topper - moe.down might only last 3 days for most of us but for Topper, the festival is an entire year in the making.
moe. friends and family who pitched in at the merch tent and VIP check-in.
A round of applause to all of the artists who were part of the moe.down 11 lineup - we were proud to share the stages with you!
Shout outs to Jay Blakesberg and iClips, as well as to Bill Minervino, Dave "Chum" Childs and the Duece 5 crew for capturing the entire weekend on various mediums of film.
We'd also like to thank Jeff Holl for heading up the moe.down charity golf outing, Debbie Amico, Jill Weirzba and her Tumble Bees Gym staff for keeping the kids busy, safe and happy at the moe.down Kids' Tent, and Debbie and Kerry Tanner and crew for the second successful hair donation event. Also, thanks to inthemoement for coordinating the school supply drive - we hope to have some statistics on how all the charity efforts went soon.
The weekend wouldn't have been complete without our sponsors there - thank you to Saranac, Technaflora and Telefunken!
And as always, the biggest thanks go out to you, our fans. You gave us the best "housewarming" we could hope for. We hope you enjoyed breaking in the new venue along with us and we look forward to making many more moe.down memories with you!

JOIN MOE. LABOR DAY WEEKEND FOR THE 11TH ANNUAL MOE.DOWN
Posted: Mar 22nd, 2010
After a successful and enjoyable decade in Turin, moe.down opts for a change of scenery: Gelston Castle Estate in Mohawk, NY. Or perhaps we should say...moe.hawk?
First Roosevelt, then Rostropovich. Now moe. will bring crowds over Labor Day weekend to the 330-acre Central New York site, which boasts breath-taking views of the Mohawk Valley and an impressive history. Majestic ruins of the 1833 castle still stand, along with the 8,300 square foot mansion built by cellist and humanitarian Mstislav "Maestro" Rostropovich, which now operates on windpower. Often called "Nature's Palace", the estate was once the place where the Nation's most historic environmental advocate, President Theodore Roosevelt, spent his childhood summers, and is now the home of Green Leadership Institute. It is 20 minutes from Utica, NY.
To read more about this unique venue, visit Gelston Castle Estate.
As moe. fans know, the moe.down festival is like, as Al Schnier once described, 'a big family picnic'. The band members revel in surrounding themselves with friends, family and great music and pride themselves on giving their fans a memorable and enjoyable festival experience. Thousands travel each Labor Day weekend to gather for this down-home pilgrimage, and for many, plans for the next moe.down begin during the journey home from the last one.
With a new festival site comes new details. moe. and the organization realize that fans are eager for information, and will provide travel, accommodation and other important info soon. The festival will continue its tradition of hosting ample vending, a Kids' tent and various charitable causes, as well as presenting an unprecedented lineup of talented artists whose music span a wide variety of genres. We hope to see you all up in moe.hawk for moe.down!
A limited amount of $90 Early Bird tickets will go on sale 4/1.
